Leaving KMG

This is a hard letter to write and it is hard to find a good way to do this so I’ll start with thanking my dear friend Eyal Yanilov. I have known Eyal since 1994 and we have shared a lot going through the years. Eyal has my deepest respect for being the person that he is and the work he has done to spread Krav Maga and my friendship will stay the same.

So, for soon 30 years I have been a part of a Krav Maga organization led by Eyal. Ive had the pleasure of learning from him, working with him and training with him. We have spent a lot of time talking about life and Krav Maga and he has had a big impact on my development as a practitioner and coach.

In the framework of those organisations I have trained and certified countless of instructors and students from all walks of life and from all over the world over the years. I’m immensely proud of all of you, it has been a true pleasure to work with you all and I’m happy and proud of the work that I have done to spread Krav Maga to the best of my abilities.

At the moment I have reached a point where I want to be able to develop teaching and training in the direction that I want it to move. This has lead to the unavoidable decision that I will leave Krav Maga Global and go my own way going forward. This is a way for me to develop and improve whatever I feel is needed to change, I can do it when I feel like it and however I feel like doing it.

I really want to ensure everyone that there is no animosity between Eyal/KMG and I!

I wish him and KMG all the luck in developing Krav Maga and keep improving it as he has done for decades. For me this is just a way to be able to develop my training/teaching in the direction that I want it to go and I find that easier and more free in a different and smaller format than inside the framework of a big global organization.

I understand that this will create some confusion, anger, sadness or even joy around the world of Krav Maga and especially among my dear friends that I have trained with, learned from or taught over the years (you all know who you are).

I have ideas and plans going forward that will be shared in a while but for now this message will be the only thing I share.

If you have any thoughts or questions, please feel free to contact me.
